PostSubject: Budget, etc.   Budget, etc. EmptyWed Jul 29, 2009 12:05 am

Has anyone started putting together this year's budget so that we can present it?
Also how are things coming along with the donation requests and all that jazz?

I know things are probably busy for a lot of people as the summer term is getting close to being over, but we really need to start taking care of these things to make sure we get what we need.

Specifically in terms of material needs; we're going to need to buy some reasonably-priced stuff.

Well, some more aluminum would probably be good for most of the drive train, harness, etc. For the propeller I would say something like carbon fibre (if we can get it otherwise fiberglass if we going with composites) or if we could get a steel or brass blade made that would be good too. At any rate would could probably use more resin, since I think we only have like half a bucket left, and how much of that is still good I don't really know. Also probably some more nose cones would be nice too.

for the aluminium, plates or like the 80/20 stuff?...

i can look in to carbon fiber this week see if its possible....has blue contacted potential companies and what -not? maybe then we could get a sweet blade made...

the same resin should work fine and we could just order some more but before we do that we have to know how much of the monies we got

Yeah, I think Blue and Meryl were supposed to be working on that budget stuff this weekend and also preparing the stuff for asking for donations and what not.

As for the aluminum, we will probably not need to much 80/20, since we can salvage a lot of it from the last drive train and harness designs.
We might need more plate, but I am not sure since nothing has been fully designed as of yet.
We most likely will need aluminum in round and square stock, in order to build the hub(s) for the propeller(s) and for making bearing mounts, etc for the drive shaft and control surfaces.
